Between St. Moritz and Ospizio Bernina we experience an open and gentle landscape interspersed with lakes, streams, moors, forests, meadows and Alpine pastures and surrounded by the highest mountains in the eastern Alps.
The trail includes highlight after highlight: the Stazerwald forest, Pontresina, the Morteratsch Glacier, the Lago Bianco watershed, the Lai Nair lake and Graubünden’s highest mountains.
Piz Bernina is the highest peak in the Bernina massif. At 4,049 metres above sea level, it is the only mountain higher than 4,000 metres in the eastern Alps. The range stretches from the Bernina Pass in the east to the Muretto Pass in the west. The Bernina massif is home to several glaciers.
